Aftermath: Dead Neanderthals Tour
Dead Neanderthal's UK tour finished last week, and we had four excellent shows. Huge thanks to all the promoters, venues, and everyone who came to see us.
The first gig was in Manchester, hosted by Freedom Principle, then the next day we made the short drive to Macclesfield to film a set in Sam Andreae's tiny basement:

In Sheffield we played the Audacious Art Experiment - a rehearsal/gig venue/record label, hosted and filmed by Tinnitus Jukebox. It was a great show, and a great space. Footage should be turning up on local network TV later in the year.
The penultimate gig at Green Door Store in Brighton was filmed in it's entirety:
We finished the tour in London with an amazing gig at The Vortex. The night was reviewed by the Ears For Eyes blog:
"They unrelentingly delivered a torrent of sound that suggested the missing link between John Coltrane’s ‘Ascension’ and the experience of pulping your head in a blender."

Dead Neanderthals UK Tour 2014
In January I'm playing a short UK tour with Dead Neanderthals. The
dates are:
31st Jan - Dulcimer Bar, Manchester
1st Feb - AAE, Sheffield
2nd Feb - Green Door Store, Brighton
3rd Feb - The Vortex, London
The Dutch duo incorporate elements from free jazz, grind and noise culminating in a pummeling sound that is akin to Painkiller and Borbetomagus. They are a household name in the Dutch experimental music scene, and have played tours and festivals all over Europe and the US.

Collaboration With Dead Neanderthals
In May I'll be guesting with Dutch duo Dead Neanderthals for a couple of UK dates:
May 16th - The Vortex, London

May 17th - The Cowley Club, Brighton
http://clubzygotic.wordpress.com
Both dates will be double-bills with another excellent heavy Dutch trio 'Albatre'. Both bands are part of the burgeoning micro-scene of artists in Europe highlighting the crossover of improv, noise-rock, and jazz. Last August I put on a show for Dead Neanderthals in London and it was one of the heaviest sets I saw all year. In December we recorded a collaborative album, and these gigs will be the first time we perform together live.

On The Edge
A few weeks ago I travelled down to Brighton with my trio (Webster/Holub/McLaren) to play at On The Edge - the night run by Brighton's Safehouse collective. It was the first time our trio had played outside London, and we had a great gig to a very enthusiastic listening audience. I mainly played Baritone for this gig, and Toby just brought his synth and effects instead of the usual Rhodes. This slight change to the usual format worked really well, with the synth bringing out more 'sounds' and the baritone sometime playing more of a support/rhythm section role.
Here's a clip of the first track from our set:

Many thanks to Gus Garside and everyone at Safehouse for bringing us down there.
